So we survived 82 days of being locked in a tiny flat together in France during a global pandemic (like we had to have permission slips to leave our home and could only go 1k for 1 hour a day to exercise). At the end of it all, we realized we still weren’t sick of each other somehow. So… Fuck it! Let’s just get married already.
I have never in my life dreamed about wedding dresses. I honestly didn’t even want to be a bride or married or any of that crap. And yet… here we are! Now look at me—a gooddamn princess in some twisted Disney fairtyale.
For everyone’s safety, all 25 guests had to wear masks indoors (except us and the mayor’s assistants). Also, his DAD married us!
This ^^^ photo is so 2020 amiright?
I mean, seriously. This is the mayor’s office of Anthony’s home town that also just happens to look like a castle and has a balcony we could wave off of like royalty after getting hitched. The place was FREE to get married (because this is where you actually have to get married in France). They even provided an enormous reception room downstairs for free (though we all hung out in the parking lot the whole time)
Our talented friend, Michael, played music for us (Game of Thrones and that pretty Metallica song, Nothing Else Matters)
Proof ^^^^ that I DO actually cry on occassion (first time in public though, I think!)
Also, I bought this gown used and got period blood all over the back of it while in the dressing room so I had no choice but get it. Then again, it wouldn’t be my dress if it wasn’t covered in stains. I did find a talented tailor to put tiny flowers over the blood stains (damn diva cup runneth over!)
This shit is so f’n cheesy but I just went with it. Anthony is French, a hopeless romantic, and the more sentimental one in our couple.
We had these ^^^ masks hand-made by our friend and then Anthony stenciled them himself. Took FOREVER but was well worth it!
Hanging out in a parking lot to avoid sharing air with people (our biggest fear was killing everyone we know with this virus because of our wedding, so we played it super safe. Despite France only having a few hundred cases of covid per day during July, we still were scared b/c 11 of his family members have had the virus, two in the ICU, as well as many of my friends/family back home. So we had 25 people there, 200 people on zoom. None of his extended family or any of mine from the USA could come)
More parking lot photos^^^^
Anthony REALLY wanted a heart-shaped red wedding cake so I went along with it. Seriously, this is what he wanted and that makes me love him so much more cuz he is so comfortable in his masculinity. The dude ain’t scared of being judged by no one! Plus he’s French and they’re allowed to be more “feminine” here.
And finally, my favorite photo… Anthony slap’n that ass!
